Building Placerville's Fiber-Optic Future
Placerville is excited to announce the buildout of Placerville Fiber’s high-speed fiber-optic network, made possible through a Last Mile Grant from the California Public Utilities Commission’s (CPUC) Federal Funding Account (FFA).
Here’s what you need to know:
Grant-Funded Service Areas– The CPUC identified the neighborhoods eligible for this first phase of construction and the city had no ability to change. These areas are fully funded by the grant.
Laying the Foundation – By building this “main line” with grant dollars, the City can more affordably and efficiently extend fiber to the rest of Placerville in future phases based on interest.
Community Input Matters – By signing up and providing your address and contact information, you'll help guide where and when we expand next. Let us know if you want fiber in your neighborhood!
Projected Completion – Phase 1 construction will be complete by December 2026 — just a short 15 months away.
Placerville Fiber is an investment in our community’s future—bringing faster, more reliable internet to homes and businesses across the city.
Current Status
We’re excited to announce that the first area we’ll be working on is Placerville Drive. Construction in this zone will begin soon, bringing ultra-fast fiber internet one step closer to your neighborhood.
